Introduction

Spend a full day in Africa’s iconic volcanic amphitheater—Ngorongoro Crater—renowned for concentrated wildlife and sweeping scenery. After entering at the Conservation Area gate, you’ll descend to the crater floor for a focused game drive, pausing at a hippo pool picnic site to enjoy the views.

Expect excellent chances to see elephants, zebras, wildebeest, buffalos and impalas, with predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas also present. Black rhino are occasionally sighted, making this one of Tanzania’s most diverse single-day safari experiences.

Tour Itinerary

Depart early from Moshi or Arusha for the scenic drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On arrival, continue to the rim and descend onto the crater floor for a concentrated game drive among grasslands, woodlands and lakeshore.

Midday, stop at a designated picnic site by the water (Ngoitoktok) before continuing your exploration. Keep an eye out for large tuskers, abundant plains game and the full suite of predators. In the late afternoon, ascend the crater wall and return to town.
